Sweepstakes visitors

November 18, 2006

We are trying to understand what the attraction to sweepstakes is on our site. It seems like a ton of people come to the site just for the sweepstakes. What kind of sweepstakes would you like to see in the future? What kind of other things would make sense for a sweeps fan and yet be consistent with the Fine Living brand (do more with your time and money, affordable luxury, etc.)

Share your thoughts with us on anything related to sweepstakes.

I love to enter yur sweepstakes, because there are always great giveaways. Since I live in New Mexico you never do any of your shows in this area like Simplify Your Live, so the only way to win anthing is by your sweepstakes.

I love entering sweepstakes. I once entered my mother in a drawing for a one carat diamond cocktail ring and she won. She was elated that she had won something, and it gave me a nice feeling that I had been a part of it. It is just the thrill of maybe winning something for me or someone else that keeps me entering. Thank you for continuing to offer such nice sweepstakes... Scheryl

Just over the past year, I've started entering online sweepstakes. Although I yet to win anything, I am hopeful! If nothing else, it's a free diversion and fun hobby. Plus, it's fun to dream about all the potential winnings!

I love to enter sweepstakes, I think the attraction is that there is a chance that you could possibly win. It the hope and excitement of possibly winning that people get addicted to.
Almost like gambling.

You should have a sweepstakes for viewers to experience fine living. Meet someone you have a show with and do something together, have a couple of days to see whatever city the show takes place in. Eat at the host's favorite resturant and have a Spa Day. Then you could have the winner blog an entry about how they enjoyed it or what would they have done differently. We viewers are very curious. And life takes such a bite out of the budget.

You can't go wrong with a spa getaway sweepstakes! There are so many spa resorts now that offer ways to relax and rejuvenate which just about any person can use! It's always fun to create a contest that gives this wonderful gift to a woman who has never had a spa treatment, or a single mom who works super hard or to a special cause.

A sweepstakes may draw me to your website but interesting pictures or titles to articles will draw me in...I think that is what you hope for and for me, at least, it works. We don't have Fine Living available in our area. But the website does have lots to offer and I have once or twice clicked on some links. So I don't think that the people who enter the sweepstakes completely blow over the website just for the sake of entering the contest.

Sweepstakes that attract me correlate to an event/prize that includes family/friends.

An interesting twist that you may want to investigate is a charitable sweepstakes-ie. great prize/s that will be given away by the winner to a needy family (queen for the day)theme (home makeover for a needy family show) theme. Sharing and giving are truly the greatest gifts. You always receive more than you give.

I'm one of those who just came to your site to look for sweepstakes. It's just so quick, fun, and easy to fill out a form online vs. snail mail. Everybody likes to win something for free, whether it's a dream home or a set of crystal glasses. Also, I find myself perusing your website and then signing up for your newletter. I would love to see more trips with a theme...like a trip to Tuscany where you can learn from the best Italian chefs!

The only thing I have ever won is the heart that belongs to the man of my dreams (believe me, it wasn't easy!) He constantly tells me "You have to get in it to win it" so I try, try again. To win a home where our whole family could come together would be another dream come true. There really is nothing more precious in life then the experiences we create with the people we love.

I love the idea someone posted about a fine living family reunion.
But any trip away is always worth entering for!

i enter every sweepstakes you have i have never won anything so everybody in my house makes fun of me i hope to win something some day

I agree with many of those who posted already - MONEY is an all-time favorite reason to enter a sweepstakes.

Maybe a future sweeps could be for an absolutely unforgettable family reunion where the winner gets to host and plan the best time ever - whether its the location, the accomodations, the food, etc. or ALL of these. Lets face it, fine living should be enjoyed by all one's family and friends!

Money (even disquised as a "home makeover") is the main attraction. The Ski trip and other luxurious travel, cars, will also keep me coming back.............

I think the most attractive sweepstake offers are for money.

Most everyone can use cash, whether it is to pay off bills, rent, mortgages, or to buy a car, food, or whatever they are in need of.

However, winning anything can be turned into money for whatever one's needs may be.

Bottom line....I think cash is the biggest incentive.

A lot of people have worked their whole lives but don't own a home and face retirement with raising rent costs and very little income coming in- more giving away of houses please!!! BUT, people don't need Dream Houses, they need real small handicapped accessible ones maybe even with a caretake apartment attached. My favorite fantasy is 4 apartments in a courtyard design with 3 hendicapped ready and one for the caretaker.

My husband thinks I'm crazy for any sweepstakes I enter. He thinks there fake and the people that they say win are made up. One day I hope to win, just to say I thought they were fake.

P.S. I still enter, you never know!!!

Theres nothing like having the chance to win it all by entering a sweepstakes. And when the time comes that you win that prize. You can sit back with your cheshire cat smile and say I told you so!!!!!

I entered the sweepstakes because it is such a nice one & I could really use a relaxing vacation. Nothing better than snowy mountain air. But I also like other things about your site. I was just recently introduced to it. I love the cocktail recipes as we do like to entertain & I do like a great martini. Thanks, Sherrill

if you guys have subscribed to the Hitwise product you would see where people are coming from to get to your site. My bet is that your sweepstakes programs end up on sites that just catalog sweepstakes and their visitors just visit every link on the sweeps catalog page and yours is one of them.

it happens to all websites that have sweepstakes. If you want to email with me directly about it, i'd be more than happy to explain in more detail.

(If you haven't guessed already, i'm in advertising and build websites/online marketing for Fortune 500 companies and work for one of the top agencies in the country)
