I also love ROOM SERVICE. Sarah Richardson's ideas are fresh and inviting. Her take on traditional style is youthful and she has a way of making every room pop. How is it possible that I love everything she does? Is there a site on Fineliving.com where we could see her rooms after the show airs? Thirty minutes is not enough time to feast your eyes on such works of art!

I missed the "designer of soft accessories" on episode 143 (baby room). I would love to buy the bear pocket pillow or bear mobile for my recently born nephew.
Can you please send me the info?

Room Service has hooked me. It's very well put together and well photgraphed. Congratulations to the team woking on the show. I only wish you would post written instructions online for Sarah Richardson's projects.

Rosetta wrote :

I watch Sarah's every episode and want to make many of the projects she demonstrates but I can't find the instructions or material lists on the web especially when it says on screen to go there for instructions or details. Could someone please tell me where on the web I can locate the written instrucions for Sarah Richardson's projects? I know she is on fine living now but they too do not have a link for her project how-to. Please, someone give me some clues. Thanks a million.

I hope diy will bring her back too. She is a good instructor when it comes to understanding the elements of design in order to make the right decisions for interior make overs.

I'm a "Sarah Fan" no doubt about it! Our tastes are so alike, but I've not been able to quite put it together. She's helped me tremendously in finding my own style - she can come to my house (in Florida -are you tempted, Sarah?)& have free reign. & it would come out perfect! The fact that she SEWS is wonderful (me too). Tell us where she finds her linen fabrics. Also her projects demos are very helpful - esp. the episode when she almost blew herself up wiring a lamp! She comes off as a very real, genuine person. (Wrapping pencils WAS a bit over the top!)Iwant more new Sarah! thanks for all your hard work...Diane, Coral Springs Fl.

My lunch hour everyday is between 12:30 - 1:00. Please Please Please put something else on!!!! This show is nice but not over and over and over again. I would really appreciate it and would probably watch this chanel more aften during this time if you had something different to watch instead of re-runs all the time.

Please : )

I have watched Sarah for 3-4 years while living in the midwest. However, I have moved to the southeast and lost trac of her show. Sarah is a very unique designer. She is far superior to all the other "designers" on TV. Her clean, sophisticated, elegant designs are fabulous.
A few years ago I watched a show where she made a duvet for her client. She showed her "special" way of making the flap on the back. Where can I find the instructions?

Victoria Greer wrote :

Shows like Room Service where Sarah not only creates the design but takes the shopping trip, tells how she formulated it: the color palate, the style be it traditional, transitional or contemporary are not only informative and interesting but are educational as well. I'd like to see more of this quality of show. Why she even shows how to execute parts of the items she incorporates. Bravo-Sarah is so refreshing. I also enjoy Candice Olsen and the original Designer Guy's-class that's what I'm refering to and these shows have it.

Cinnamon Mason wrote :

I LOOOOOVE "Room Service". It is truly my favorite show. I HATE all those real estate and junk brothers construction shows. They belong on DIY. I could watch 24 hours of Sarah and Candace. Their work is classic, elegant and unbelievably inspirational. Please put together instructional websites for them. I get so caught up in watching them do their projects, I forget to write the info down. By the way, while I really like Sheila Bridges and Dwell, ENOUGH with the reruns. Either make the shows current or don't bother!

Debbie wrote :

Just wanted to say that I too love Sarah. I just found Room Service and wasn't aware that it was only reruns until I read these posts. Well, they're new to me but I sure hope she makes more. Very classy and sophisticated designs. She has such a nice sweet voice, nothing annoying about her.

Arla Siderfin wrote :

We the viewers would love to see more of the quality design shows such as Design Inc, Design Rivals,Candice Olsen, Designer Guys, Kenneth Brown etc.these are the ones that keep us watching and coming back for more....I channel surf when the game show type programs come on - there is no entertainment or value to these ones. I love to pick up ideas from the designers they truly inspire our creative ablility.

Susie wrote :

I continue to watch "Room Service" on Fine Living channel on Saturday mornings. Thank Heavens for an ADULT show hosted by a designer with exquisite taste!!! I'll even watch the re-runs too!! So many of the designer, real estate shows are crafted with a gimick and show designers acting in silly scenarios. I appreciate Ms. Richardson's approach and design esthetic and do wish there were more shows on television or cable with her sense of refinement.

Cheryl wrote :

I hope you are listening.....Enough of the real estate buzz. It's interesting, but every night???Please bring back the class: Candace, Sarah, Kenneth. Real design, real homes, real solutions.

Mary wrote :

Please stop the excessive real estate shows. I just change the channel when they come on. Take it back: I like Hidden Potential. But all those dreary moving van tales with the speaker faking a walk on the sidewalk are dreary. Is Designer Finals still on? I liked that. But I hate when they line up three designers or three horticulturists and see which one the owner wants. Lots of wasted time on a 30-minute show. The Canadian shows are usually terrific, but Debbie Travis adds too much stuff. I still cringe when I think of her red kitchen with black plaster decorations like measles all over the walls.

You can't please everybody, but you do pretty well except for excessive real estate shows, your what-do-you-call-it? Property Block. It gives me fair warning not to tune in. Holmes on Homes and Toolbelt Diva are new to me and I enjoy them. Also like the two Saturday morning guys, Don't Sweat It and Over Your Head. And love the rockheads.

Sarah, I would like to see you remodel a kitchen and/or bathroom for the disabled. So often the redo's a tacky looking without much style. Thanks

I love the elegance of Room Service. Now that I am more sophisticated than in my youth (when the wonderfully cheerful Room By Room was my fave), I enjoy programs like RS, Chris Madden, Sheila Bridges, Kenneth Brown, and Designers' Challenge. I also love taking the ultra-expensive room and redoing it for a fraction of the cost.

Please remember that you have a lot of viewers who tend to read Arch. Digest, Veranda, Southern Accents, etc. and tailor programming to that taste. The same person who loves Andrea Immer, Barefoot Contessa and Giada is not likely to be inclined to make a garish, themed room.

I also enjoyed Before and After, but it seems to have disagppeared. Why?

As I read through all the comments which express exactly my own love of "Room Service" & "Design Inc" and my disappointment that they are no longer on HGTV...I wonder if anyone in management at either channel actually reads these posts. I emailed and called repeatedly to protest Sarah's disappearance from HGTV before I found that I could subscribe to Fine Living and at least get the first few seasons of Room Service. Maybe there really are lots of viewers who like the new "story-based" shows with the silly annoying hosts and college dorm decorating, but if so I am not one of them. PLEASE give those of us with an interest in real design, something to watch! (Give us Sarah!)

Theresa Tessier wrote :

I, also, miss Sara Richardson. She was wonderful ! You can really learn something from her.Would like to see her do a relaxing room next to the pool area. Why aren't the craft shows being shown on DIY ? I used to keep the TV on HGTV in the morning, while working around the house, but I no longer do that. In the evenings, all there is is House Hunters. Enough ! One or two nights, but it seems like every night !

vg wrote :

Just would like to say How my favorite channel is the HGTV channel. I learn so much from them and enjoy all the different views of designing. Sara is really good and I really enjoy watching her because she seems real and fun to work with. Her designs are something that I like which are soft and earthy and very clean and airy. I think she is doing a great job!! Thats it!

Sonya wrote :

In general, I find the Canadian shows to be better than the American "manic" designer show formula. In general, the Canadian shows provide a relaxing viewing atmosphere and are more educational. Why do I need to be made to feel anxious with weird, jiggly camera maneuvers and stupid loud rock music in the background and hosts' "antics". The Cash in the Attic with that screechy host makes me want to shoot the TV.

Candace Olsen is the exception in that she is GOOD at being a campy host. If you have the personality and the chemistry (as in thw case of Clive and Lisa on Designed to Sell), then great. The audience will and have approved. But instead of forcing this same reality show formula on us when the hosts have no "magic" (i.e. natural talent), at least give us talenteed designers with useful information.

Sorry, but this has been on my mind for some time, and seeing that I am not alone made me finally vent about it. Better to vent (and hopefully have someone listen) then turn off your channel altogether, right?

Judi wrote :

Like all of the above, I love Sarah Richardson. Luckily I can see her shows on Fine Living. We need more of the refined decorators like Sarah, Candice Olsen, Debbie Travis, and others who have been off the air for so long. I'm getting really tired of the hosts and hostesses who seem to be audtioning for a variety show. I don't care so much about the owners and/or the crew cleaning up as I do about the purpose of the room, the details of the media used, and the colors used. I started watching HGTV because of the high quality and uniqueness of the shows. That quality seems to have slipped as quantity has become the norm. Thank goodness for TiVo, so I can zip through all of the cuteness (Isn't that what network TV and sitcoms are supposed to provide?)and concentrate on the design work.

I,too, missed the "good old shows" of HGTV; Chris Madden, Room by Room, Candace Olsen etc. Let us revisit Years back and bring back that scheduling and not so much craft and house buying every night. Please, please. Sincerely.

I only get HGTV here and certainly miss Sarah Richardson. Her designs are clean, calm and ultimately do-able! I have even read the books she recommended and especially enjoyed Vincent Wolfe's "Learning to See." The HGTV shows are getting a little cheesy and would like the evenings to emphasize DESIGN not the quirky hosts. thank you Sarah. I wondered where you went. Kindest regards, terry

I agree with Cheryl shown above.... I would like to see more professional designers dealing with every day "real people" design issues. Good, classy designs - less kitchy - but still cost conscious. I would LOVE to see more of: Candice Olsen, Kenneth Brown, Sarah Richards, Debbie Travis, Get Color, Design on a Dime and our knight in shinning armour Holems on Homes.
I hope the network listens and really reads these things!

I have recently lost interest in HGTV because I am no longer finding the shows that interest me. Sarah Richardson, Debbie Travis, Candice Olsen, etc. Crafting may be important to some people, but most of the shows I have seen are of the cheap, kitchy variety. I want to be able to make my money go further with Designer ideas, difficult room placement tips, and incorporating some of my things with some new or new to me finds. Hopefully HGTV will take the hint and look long and hard at their lineup.

Sarah Richardson demonstrates such elegance and inspiring decor.I appreciate her sense of style whether it is contemporary, french country or traditional, etc. She always keeps the lines clean, and the design fresh, simple and elegant. Her adorable accent and calm presentation is icing on the cake. I like the way she brings her sewing machine to the camera and shows how to do it! PLEASE CONSIDER RETURNING ROOM SERVICE to HGTV. HGTV has certainly changed. It has lost its class in many ways.

LOVE everything Sarah does. She is a genius with older homes, but I have yet to see her do a boring 1950's rambler. There are so many things (crown moldings, etc.) that just don't fit the style of this kind of home. I would HAPPILY sacrifice my Twin Cities, Minnesota rambler if Sarah would like to experiment!

anna eberhardt wrote :

Love Sarah Richardson both Room Service and Design Inc. Right now on Fine Living I watch Room Service and Shelia Bridges all of which are repeats. I'd love new shows from these designers.
I don't care for all the travel and cooking shows as there is a travel channel and food network which have do better shows.

I feel both Fine Living and Home and Garden tv are throwing cheaply produced shows on thinking the viewer doesn't know the difference. You underestimate the taste level of your viewers. My favorite magazine is Candaian House & Home and I love their House & Home show which I'd love to see on your channel.

I'd like a show featuring designers homes.

And also since we aren't all doing big projects all the time, shows about the details would be lovely. Different ways to make up a bed. Clever display use of kitchen counter space. What should be in a foyer. Doing up a dressing table in a modern way. The products for a spa bath.
Tabletop for everyday display as well as parties.
Closeting and displaying clothing.

If you must do travel, I liked Donna Hamilton when she visited inns. It was warm and charming.

House Beautiful did a series for A & E that I loved. Their shows were a great example of showing interesting people and their homes in a petty and welcoming fashion.

As a writer, I look for the detail, the taste level and the charming personality.

Sarah Richardson, Shelia Bridges and Lynda Reeves get the trifecta right.

Sarah's designs are fresh and tranquil. I'd love to see her do some "outdoor" rooms. Perhaps a sunroom, covered patio, screened porch or deck with her touches could really be inviting. My outdoor space has an inground pool and covered patio which I would like to really spruce up. It is a courtyard effect and is really the first thing people see when they come to the back door. Her designs are timeless yet refreshing.

I loved rooom service. sarah is calming and so are her rooms. I don't care for the new craft shows even tho I am a crafter. It's hard for me to identify with someone who wears tatoos rather than sleeves on her blouse or someone who lives on a farm. The crafts look very homespun and I like to learn to make things that appear professional and polished. I watch the scrapbooking and decorating shows, like Get Color. Even the show where things are obtained from a flea market and garage sales are preferable to these craft shows. I enjoyed Matt and Sherri. I agree that HGTV is having its most disappointing season and that I watch it a lot less during the day.

I 'll volunteer to have her do any rrroom for me and I would not even think of being disappointed at all. Miss her very much.

This new line up they have are trashy.Who want to hear what people pay for their house or how much you can get for it.I miss Rick Spence and Curb Appeal. All the goods shows are gone. Homes across America. What a lovely show.

I miss "Room Service". Her re-dos were liveable, young and fresh and avoided the MDF /Plywood horrors the under-$500-dollars-a-room type shows perpetrate as "furniture". As to the craft shows -- they have all the visual appeal of a day spent watching paint dry or clay harden. Really boring. I used to keep HGTV on during the daytime, but have abandoned it and I am a crafter. I sew, home dec and garments, as well as quilt (I did enjoy the now-bansihed early morning quilting show with Alex Anderson). I've dabbled in many other crafts over the years but never thought that watching other people knit would be compelling television.

I hope Sarah returns to HGTV in the near future. The programmers should rethink the recent schedule changes that I'm sure were compelled by budget considerations. Most of the craft shows look like amateur "one camera -- one ball of yarn" efforts which one would more likely expect from community cable producers.

Room Service is my absolute favorite show... I Tivo it for every episode (even reruns). The charm is completely Sarah! -- always elegant, with the right touch of 'cheap finds and homegrown whimsy', she is just perfect. And, we love her adorable accent. while I may not always like her rooms, I love her ideas. I'd like to see her tackle more situations with furniture that 'must stay' (making it work), as well as seeing her attack a media room! (so hard to make it look nice and be functional). I got so excited when Tivo picked up a 2007 show!!!!!

Even though her taste is modern she works within the clients frame work.I would like to see more of working in a small space; sometimes working with more color. But overall I like the show just fine. One of my favorite episodes is where she silver leafed squares on the wall; the room that she gave beach theme;using fabric to separate a bedroom and living area. I am back in University, live in one and would like to use a Murphy Bed/Wall Bed but they are so expensive. Do you have a "less" expensive method of creating such a bed? My suite is 12 x 15, separate kitchen and obviously bathroom. Yes, I did say 12 X 15. Miracles, please.

Sarah and her show, Room Service is by far, THE BEST Home Design show I've seen on TV. I love her paint techniques. I like how she shows every step to completing a project (i.e. the woven ribbon lampshade cover). And her use of quality products and antiques give them a unique appeal.

I would like to see her do a breakfast room that is connected to the kitchen, working around open areas and a large french door.

Thanks!

I absolutely love the shows and Sarahs ease in conveying her message. I am going to build a new home in about a year and would love to see some suggestions on how she would spruce up new construction to give it her warm and welcoming feeling. My home will be in coastal Carolina and I'd like some of that southern decor that is so charming incorporated into the decorating as well as the design of the home without being too fussy and frilly. Continue the good work Sarah.

I love Sarah's work and would like to see her do more kitchens and smaller washrooms. Most of the washrooms i've seen her do are huge and unfortunately not all of us have such huge spaces. I would also like to see her do a back yard patio.

I LOVE Room Service, it is the best Design show on TV! She takes her designs seriously and I like the shows best when she is by herself on the project. I would love to see more Nature-thyme decorating/design and what to do with a very small laundry room space. I look forward to NEW 2007 shows! Keep up the good work!

I would like to see a show about how to renevate a home for a handicapped person. My husband and I need to modify an existing home for our son who became a quadraplegic and will soon be coming home from the hospital.

Cathy wrote :

This is one of my favorite shows. Sarah is very talented and knows how to re-invent the wheel with old props. Most of us do not have access to these great stores. After building a few times, I know the terror of contractors. This is never addressed. You need to be a very informed client and with a little luck, have a decorator as creative as Sarah. I hope you can brings us new episodes soon.

The question is "What should Sarah do next?". And the answer is,,,,something in America, and in particular, MY BEDROOM!

I love Sarah and the show, I would just like to see new episodes. She has changed the way I look at design, where I find inspiration, and inspired my new decorating style. I record her shows so I can reference ideas when I need them. Really enjoy the "how to" segment, it helps me to think outside the box. Thanks Sarah.

Being a designer myself of african american and puerto rican decent i would like to see more designers of color like sheila bridges, trust me they are out there like myself. Also i love sarah but she needs more new shows, she works better by herself. her talent on design inc was ok. roxanne

I love the show! I saw new episodes while I was visiting in Canada. I wish we got them here. Sarah design talent is wonderful. When you watch the show, you feel as though you are watching a real pro in action. I wouldn't change a thing.

Essie wrote :

I like the show but the Canadian accent is a little off-putting. Also, the shows are all very, very old. When will there be new Room Service shows? I did not like the Design, Inc. shows. The crew acted a little juvenile and did not appear to be very serious about decorating. Would also love to see a show on sunporches/patios. Thanks.

Timeless ideas is what draws me to all of Ms.

very inventive sense of what makes an environment
trully livable. You can certainly go forward with
Design Inc. or create a new venue that incorporates projects in the United States.

I love your show. Sara has a wonderful sense of design and color and she's very professional in her presentation. I really enjoy seeing her color choices for any room. She has a fresh, clean approach to everything she does, but I would like to see more information on how to make or where to purchase products. Maybe we could even try to see some of her drawings for her designs so we can see how she gets her ideas and where she intends to take the room from start to finish.

Do enjoy Sarah's approach to design. What I have not seen much of in hers or other similar programs are rooms/houses for men, especially bedrooms with a masculine air. So many magazines follow the same path. Could we see more variety such as for men with clean lines and bolder colors?

So many magazines follow the same path. Could we see more variety such as for men with clean lines and bolder colors and perhaps design for other professions where the home is also the workplace (such as a farmer, contractor, one person at home professionals)? I like her cleaness of design and use of color.

I most enjoy sea/water themes as I live on an island in the Caribbean. It would be nice to have detailed project instructions so I can duplicate what whousl work best in my new home.

Love your show and the clean approach to living spaces & use of color. What I would love to see, is the choice and placement of the accessories. There is no show on TV, that I know of, that addresses this aspect of decorating in detail. Flooring, Paint and furniture are important but as background to the accessories. Accessories is what makes the room come "alive" and shows personality.

Sarah and her show are wonderful! As with some of the others, I'd love more information on what products (ie colors, sources) she uses, the projects she does and how she goes about picking a particular look and how to get it. I'd love to see her redesign a tiny kitchen with ideas for storage solutions. Along with how to plan for doing the remodel. We're planning to redo ours and I'm not even sure where to start. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Diana wrote :

The shows are old. Sarah did a show called design Inc. that was more modern and present design. If you could find more designers like Shelia Bridges or more shows from her it would be great. Some of the design shows are more like competitions and they come off like a game show.

Room Service is one of the few design shows with a really talented designer. I love the show because there is nothing cutsey (or feeble attempts to be funny) about it! I would like to see product information somewhere on the website though. Are there any new 2007 episodes planned? Keep up the brilliant work Sarah!

I appreciate your designer savvy Sara! Haven't seen all of your offerings, but what I have seen have been mostly soft light colors on the walls and fabrics, which greatly differ from the sometimes hideous tones on other shows. I would like to see you tackle a deeper and more colorful palette once in a while.

I really love her show ....and I'd love to see her do one on the East Coast . I'm sure she could find a few houses that are need of makeovers or maybe a few suggestions to make them more enjoyable ... Like maybe my house , I'd love for her to see my 140 year old home and what we have done to it ....just a suggestion .

I enjoy Sarah's straightforward approach to design. She has found her calling. My current focus is on my kitchen with white cupboards (traditional cape cod home). I've been researching countertops & backsplash. I like a "clean look", but a sunny, warm look. My kitchen is on the NORTH side & not much light. Floors are red oak laminate. I hope I can pull it together from Sarah's inspirations. Favorite shows: 1.)"the YURT" & 2.)"Living Room Dining Room" with coral reds & a lot of cream for an older woman & 3.) an upstairs bedroom tucked under the roof with the Water painting over the bed.

You have such great taste in your show! Us middle class baby boomers still would like to see our design lives addressed. Freshen up our often lost in an era spaces and still be age appropriate spaces with function as a top priority.Good looking universal bathrooms would be a hit among my age group.Talent abounds on your show. Love it.

I love the show and fresh ideas with color. I would like to see more shows showing how to make space or what to do when you have a Mother that is living with a couple. Not because of necessity but by choice. Age of parent is 65-70 and the couple is 35-45. In today's economy more and more families and living together and we need some new ideas for homes. Loft living, unusual living space etc.

Hello:
Love the show! Seems that not enough time is spent showing the details of the completed project though. Would love more time to see and review the finished project. Thanks

Love the show - what I like best are the little touches that finish the room. Then the projects such as a tray, or pillow, or lampshade are inspiring. Then the elements that inspired the direction of the project - colors, theme, style, furnishings, etc. - and how it all fits together. Also love the local artists featured in the episodes. It all works together to help the viewer follow the design process.

Looking forward to new episodes, and wondering if there will be a "Room Service" book sometime?

I've seen Sarah do several garden and nature-themed spaces on the show, but I don't think I've seen a porch/sunroom done yet. Would love to see what she comes up with for an actual outdoor space....

I really wish you create a space for written instructions, especially for the show Room Service. I needed the instructions for covering the books, but could not fine them on the home site.
